Yak: The Horned Cousin of the Cow

Yak: The Horned Cousin of the Cow

For most, thinking of yaks may bring to mind rolling hills or snowcapped mountains. The beautiful scenery surrounding the natural habitat for yaks make them even more desireable to hunt!

Yak can be found primarily in Tibet, China, and and Central Asia, although they can be found in other places around the world. They are also found on plains and farms in many states in the US, including Montana and Wyoming.

Yak season tends to be open year round in many states.

Yak tastes similar to beef. It is known for being a meat healthier than beef and lower in things like cholesterol, calories, and saturated fats, making it a great option for healthy, protein packed jerky.

Have you ever participated in a yak hunt?
